Start with the reporting method

Specify whether the lab reports moisture, ash and volatile matter under ASTM D7582, GB/T 212 or another method. Ask the supplier to map each temperature step, hold time and atmosphere to your written SOP before comparing prices.

A useful quotation should state sample mass, crucible format, batch capacity, weighing resolution, temperature uniformity and whether the software exports raw weights and method history.

Acceptance test before payment

Use a certified reference material representative of your coal rank and run replicate samples across the expected range. Compare bias, repeatability, blank correction and recovery against your laboratory control limits; do not accept a generic accuracy statement without raw records.

Questions for the RFQ

Request a batch-cycle diagram, calibration procedure, spare-parts list, voltage and plug options, installation scope, operator training and a written factory acceptance test. Confirm who signs the final method-compatibility report.
